business news in context, analysis with attitude

I’m working on a magazine project that could use a little broad-based input…so I’m wondering if I can pose a few questions to the MNB community…

The idea is to take a lighthearted look at retailing ideas that were either misconceived, ill-executed, or badly timed. So let me ask you:

1. What’s the worst idea you’ve ever seen a retailer try to implement? (I’m not looking for vicious attacks here, but rather concepts that were well-intentioned but just didn’t work out.)

2. What’s the dumbest idea you ever had at retail? (Be self-effacing but honest…we all make mistakes, and it’s better if we own up to them.)

Thanks for your help…I’ll let you know how people answered these questions in the near future.
