business news in context, analysis with attitude

The Wall Street Journal reports this morning that Anheuser-Busch, looking to test how far it can get into the liquor market, will begin distributing Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Tequila in Massachusetts.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but this isn’t the first time that A-B has teamed up with Buffett – it also developed the singer’s new beer, Landshark Lager, which currently is available only in Florida.
KC's View:
Massachusetts is a good market to test is for any Buffett product. Just listen to his “Live At Fenway Park” CD, and you get a sense of the rabid fan base there.

We think this is a good idea…though our biases in this area are well known. (We already have our tix for the September 20 Buffett concert at Madison Square Garden…which means that MNB may be a little late on the 21st!)
