business news in context, analysis with attitude

DunnhumbyUSA, the "customer insights" and data management group that is majority owned by Tesco, has opened its second US office, in Atlanta. Until now, the organization has been operating out of a Cincinnati facility, where it has primarily been serving Kroger, which also is a shareholder in the company.

In Atlanta, Dunnhumby will be working on its new Home Depot account, as well as working with Kroger and Coca-Cola.

"Our business is rapidly expanding and Atlanta will play a key role in fueling our growth," said Simon Hay, CEO of DunnhumbyUSA.
KC's View:
Dunnhumby is generally considered to be the class of the field and one of the reasons that Tesco owns almost one-third of the UK's supermarket business. While there may be some competitive issues because of the Kroger relationship, we remain interested in seeing how Tesco utilizes its Dunnhumby learnings as it opens stores in the US…because we cannot imagine that this is an advantage that it wants to give up.
