• Wal-Mart said that its March sales rose 11.7% to $34.26 billion, with same-store sales up four percent.

• BJ’s Wholesale Club said that its March sales were $790.8 million, compared with $718.7 billion a year earlier. Same-store sales were up 3.1 percent, almost triple what had been expected by analysts.

• PriceSmart, the warehouse club company with stores in Central America and the Caribbean, reported second quarter net income of $6.5 million, more than double the $3.2 million reported during the same period a year ago. Q2 revenue was $231.9 million, up 20 percent from $193.3 million a year ago.

• Rite Aid reported that its fourth quarter revenue dropped 4.4 percent to $4.56 billion from $4.77 billion a year ago, which the company said was due to a shorter reporting period. Same-store sales were up three percent.
