A number of Kroger stores were shut down Friday when a computer glitch related to the nationwide pet food recall disrupted systems in stores located in markets that included Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis, Memphis, Little Rock, Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton.

According to the Associated Press, “the system that rings up customers' purchases went down because the recall system Kroger uses was being upgraded at the same time another aspect of the pet food recall was announced.”

Kroger did not have an estimate of how sales may have been affected by the glitch and the closures.
