- WNBC in New York reports that an Internet rumor has been causing some trouble for Starbucks.
Some longtime customers have been boycotting the coffee chain because they head via the Internet that when some soldiers in Iraq wrote to the company looking for samples, they received a letter in return saying that because the company did not support the war, it was not sending the soldiers anything.
The story is not true, according to Starbucks. Not only does it continue to pay employees who have been called to military duty, but it has donated tens of thousands of pounds of coffee to the Red Cross, which has been serving it to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- KC's View:
It is amazing how many of these hoaxes are out there on the Internet.
Though usually, all you need to separate the real stuff from the hoaxes is a bit of common sense.
