Online magazine has posted a new survey of some 2,000 ad executives, brand managers and academics, revealing that, in their opinion, the number one global brand is Apple Computer – driven by the enormous success of its iPod.

Pushed into second place was last year’s top ranked Google. Number three was Ikea, and number four was Starbucks.

But the big surprise, according to Brandchannel, was number five - Al Jazeera, the Arabic news channel that has gained notice and notoriety for its insight into terrorism and videotapes of Osama Bin Laden.
