business news in context, analysis with attitude

Today marks the publication of a new e-newsletter, XtremeRetail23.com, which is designed to provide the latest information and analysis of technologies designed specifically for the retail environment.

XtremeRetail23.com focuses on the business and consumer issues impacting 23 of the leading retail channels - from automotive to department stores to grocery to home supply to warehouse clubs, with the emphasis on how shoppers will (or will not) embrace these technologies.

The goal of XtremeRetail23.com is to look at in-store success models, get a preview of technology prototypes and get first-hand analysis of the benefits and timeline of leading industry applications. XR23 explores these issues and more each month and discusses their impact on the retail environment through insights, consumer research and actual video demonstrations.

For example, the new edition offers a one-on-one interview with Tracy Mullin, CEO of the National Retail Federation (NRF) in which she discusses the future of global retail on the eve of NRF's annual conference. It also features a print-and-video look at Food Lion’s Bloom experiment; a look at how cell phones are being used to communicate diet and nutrition information; and a survey of consumers about what they really want from store technologies.

XtremeRetail.com is the brainchild of Phil Lempert, food trends editor of NBC’s Today, as well as the founder of SupermarketGuru.com.
