  • The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports this morning that Wal-Mart plans to have three supercenters operating in the Twin Cities by early 2006, and has filed requests with three communities to expand existing discount stores to the larger format.

    The expansions are expected to ratchet up area competition, especially for price-oriented formats such as Rainbow and Cub, as well as for SuperTarget stores.
