Just days after resigning Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tommy Thompson said that he didn’t understand why terrorists hadn’t tried to attack the nation’s food supply, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted final rules designed to protect the nation’s food.

The rules require that any company that manufactures, processes, packs, transports, distributes, receives, holds or imports food must keep records for up to two years, so officials can trace the source of food contamination and, if necessary, be able to pinpoint when and where food was tainted.
