business news in context, analysis with attitude

The latest evidence that the natural and organic food business is gaining greater access to mainstream American life: two major league baseball stadiums plan to sell certified organic hot dogs and bratwurst next season, in addition to items such as organic chicken breasts and salads.

USA Today reports that while the organic products may cost as much as a third more than regular hot dogs, the company handling concessions for the stadiums believe that they will appeal to customers looking for food that they believe is both more nutritious and safer than traditional fare.

The two ballparks are Busch Stadium in St. Louis and Petco Park in San Diego.
