  • Albertsons announced that bits third quarter profit rose to $110 million, from $91 million during the same period a year earlier. Sales rose 15 percent to $10 billion, which the company said was aided by acquisitions.

  • Starbucks reported that its net revenue for the 4 weeks ended Nov. 28 rose 26 percent to $486 million, as same-store sales for the period rose 13 percent.

    However, company chairman Howard Schultz cautioned that investors have to keep in mind that such same-store growth was “not sustainable.”


  • Costco reported that November sales rose seven percent to $4.08 billion, with US same-store sales up six percent and international same-store sales up three percent.


  • Dollar General reported third quarter earnings of $71.1 million, down from $77.9 million during the same period a year earlier.

    The company said third-quarter sales rose 11.5 percent to $1.88 billion from $1.69 billion in the third quarter of 2003. Same-store sales were up 3.4 percent.
