In the UK, The Guardian reports that Wal-Mart’s Asda Group has been fined the equivalent of $9,100 (US) for making illegal claims about the health benefits of mangoes that it sells.

The company had said that the mangoes’ antioxidant properties helped to fight cancer, a statement that it conceded broke the nation’s food labeling regulations.

Asda said that while the claims were illegal, they were true – and vowed to fight for reform of the nation’s food labeling laws.
