The Federation of Wine and Spirits Exporters reports that the amount of French wine sold abroad dropped 2.8 percent during the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period a year ago.

At the same time, however, French producers of Beaujolais Nouveau - fresh, fruity first wine of the harvest – are hoping that this year’s vintage will help revive sales numbers. Some of this hope is based on real numbers, since much of the year’s Beaujolais Nouveau already has been sold to US restaurants and merchants, and this year’s sales are up seven percent over last year’s.
KC's View:
We’ll be there on November 18 when the 2004 Beaujolais Nouveau arrives in the US…after all, it is our journalistic duty.

(Ah, who are we fooling? We’d be there anyway…)
