business news in context, analysis with attitude

We just finished reading a wonderfully wacky novel by Carl Hiaasen, who writes off-kilter and slightly demented books set in South Florida. “Skinny Dip” is about a woman whose husband tries to kill her, and the rather peculiar revenge that she exacts. Great fun.

And two wines to recommend this week…

    • A 2002 Mercurey from France’s Bouchard Père & Fils, which is 100 percent Pinot Noir which was light enough to drink alone, and strong enough to stand up to a Chicken Parmesan we made the other night.

    • And, a wonderfully smooth 2001 Chateau St. Jean 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s Sonoma Valley, which was just wonderful…rich, flavorful and complex. (The wine is actually 91 percent Cabernet, blended with seven percent Cabernet Franc, and one percent each of Merlot and Petit Verdot.) Just lovely.

Have a good weekend.
