  • Drugstore chain Duane Reade posted second-quarter income that fell 27 percent, to $3 million, from $4.1 million in the same period a year ago.

    Total sales grew 2.8 percent to $365.2 million from $355.2 million, with pharmacy sales up 6.5 percent during the quarter, according to the company. Same-store sales for the period were up four-tenths of one percent.


  • Kraft Foods Inc. reported that second-quarter earnings fell 26.4 percent to $698 million, from $949 million a year ago. Revenues rose to $8.2 billion from $7.84 billion a year ago, on volume growth of 3.6 percent.
