  • Under pressure from the Connecticut Attorney General, Kellogg Co, has agreed to stop shipping cereal boxes containing a "Spidey Signal" toy to the state. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal charged that the mercury batteries included with the toy violated the state's environmental laws.

    A similar move is expected to be taken in New Hampshire because of that state’s environmental laws.


  • Published reports say that Kroger will acquire six Cincinnati-area Thriftway stores from Winn-Dixie Stores. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.


  • McDonald’s has decided to end its experiment with creating old-fashioned diners, and will convert the 10 units using the concept into traditional McDonald’s fast food restaurants. The company said the concept no longer fit into its core strategy.
