  • Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News reports that Wal-Mart’s advertising agency maintains that the current commercial campaign stressing employee and company diversity was being rolled out before a federal judge granted class action status to a gender discrimination suit against the company.

    Sarah Clark, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart, told the news service, "It's an effort to share the facts about our company rather than allowing others to define who we are."

No argument from these quarters; we can remember seeing the ads months ago.

The only question is whether the frequency has increased…or whether we’re just more sensitive to them now because they address a hot-button topic.
