Starbucks reportedly is looking at Russia as a potential market for its brand of coffee, cappuccinos and lattes. The company’s CEO, Orin Smith, said in an interview that “we are very, very interested in Russia at this point.”

Reports in the Russian press have suggested that Starbucks plans to spend as much as $50 million (US) to establish a presence in Russia, which has some 150 million residents but no international coffee chains.

It was just about 10 days ago that we reported that Wal-Mart was looking at Russia as a strong potential market.

Clearly, there’s a lot of potential over there in the shadow of the Kremlin.
