business news in context, analysis with attitude

In a conference call yesterday with financial analysts, Nash Finch CEO Ron Marshall said that the company has decided to cease its expansion plans for its Avanza stores, which are targeted as Hispanic shoppers.

The reason? Marshall said that the company is “not pleased” with their progress in the Chicago market, where there are two of the units. The Avanza stores in Colorado reportedly are doing better than the Chicago stores.
