business news in context, analysis with attitude

Ahold announced this morning a series of personnel changes at US Foodservice, the division of the company plagued by accounting irregularities.

The unit is headed by Lawrence Benjamin, who was appointed chief executive in October.

Ahold said David Eberhardt has been appointed executive vice president and Robert Fishbune as chief financial officer.

Last month the group named former lawyer Robert Aiken as executive vice president for strategy and Garry Brown, a consultant specialist in restructuring troubled business, was appointed senior vice president of procurement.

"Putting this new leadership team and organizational structure in place means that we have reached another important milestone at U.S. Foodservice in our 'Road to Recovery'," said Ahold Chief Executive Anders Moberg in a prepared statement. "I am confident that these changes will help the company restore its competitive strength."
