business news in context, analysis with attitude

The Arizona Republic reports that 140-unit Bashas' Supermarkets has acquired a pair of former Premier Desert Market stores and will convert one to its AJ's Fine Foods format and the other to a Bashas' store. The company also reportedly plans to open stores in Buckeye, Maricopa, Queen Creek, Verrado and two in Mesa, and will open an AJ's in Mesa.
KC's View:
Tough competition out in that neck of the woods from Fry's, Safeway, Albertsons and Wal-Mart. Good to see that Bashas' is holding its own, playing offense and keeping the competition on its toes.
