Louisiana State University researchers are reporting that an increase in the use of high fructose corn syrup in the 1970s and 1980s coincides with the obesity epidemic that is sweeping the country.

However, these same researchers say there is no proof of a definitive link.

Some food industry experts say, however, that it isn't the fault of high fructose corn syrup, but rather the propensity of Americans to get less exercise while ingesting more calories.
