Arden Group, which owns 18 Gelson's Markets, announced that it has come to an agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) on a contract proposal that will be put to a ratification vote on March 24 and March 25.

As reported last week on MNB, Gelson's employees voted not to approve a new union contract that was identical to the terms to the contract ratified by union employees at the Southern California Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons stores. Gelson's had an agreement with the union made previous to the strike/lockout that it would adhere to any deal made with the three major chains.
