The Tallahassee Democrat reports that a group of residents that has been resisting the building of a Wal-Mart has accused the company's real estate representative of offering it a bribe.

According to the paper, "John Park, an Atlanta real-estate broker, says he offered a financial contribution to the group if it would support the company's desire to build a Wal-Mart store at the Sam's Club site on North Monroe Street. The group has opposed a new, larger store because they say it could harm Lake Jackson."

In an email to local officials, the group called the offer a "bribe."

The real estate broker called the characterization "ludicrous."
