The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Target is planning to roll out a format in 2004 that will have a broader selection of food that in its traditional discount stores.

With as much as 50 percent more food in a environment that resembles a supermarket, these new stores will not have the meat and produce departments found in Super Target units.

Thirteen out of 25 new Target stores scheduled to open in March 2004 are reportedly going to have the expanded food selection, and some 80 existing units will be retro-fitted this year to have more food.
