  • Coca-Cola Co. announced that Steven J. Heyer, its president and chief operating officer, is ceding control of the company's North American operations.

    Don Knauss, president of Coke's North America retail division, will take over as president of the entire North America unit.

    The move reportedly was made because the Coke board of directors wanted Heyer to take on broader supervisory responsibilities as its assesses whether he is the best choice to replace the retiring Douglas Daft as CEO.
