It was just yesterday that MNB reported that specialty food retailer Trader Joe's, which currently operates a dozen stores in the Chicago market, plans to open an additional five stores there by the end of 2005.

And now, published reports say that Trader Joe's also is looking at Manhattan and other boroughs of New York City for locations. The company operates stores in the suburbs of New York, as well as near Boston…but these would be the first TJ units in New York City.
