Albertsons announced that it is staying in North Texas, reorganizing and streamlining its Dallas-Fort Worth division.

The announcement runs contrary to speculation that the company would sell its stores there.

Wayne Denningham, president of the division, resigned to pursue other interests. He was replaced by Judy Spires, a 28-year Albertsons veteran, who will retain her responsibilities as president of the Rocky Mountain division. The Dallas division includes Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Nebraska.

The company also said that it would give more control to its store managers. There reportedly were no layoffs in the reorganization.
